Bengals can be wonderful cats for families with children, especially when they're raised around kids from the time they're little. Their playful, curious nature can make them especially fun for children who enjoy interacting with their pets. Bengals love games, climbing, chasing toys, and investigating whatever is going on around them. A child with a feather wand and a Bengal kitten can keep each other busy for a very long time!
Bengals tend to enjoy being part of whatever the family is doing rather than spending all day hiding away. In my experience, they usually want to know what everyone is up to and will often follow their people from room to room just to be involved. Because they're such active and interactive cats, they can form really special relationships with children who spend time playing with them and giving them attention.
Like with any kitten, children should be taught to handle Bengals gently, respect their boundaries, and let them walk away when they've had enough. It's also important for younger children to be supervised when playing with a kitten. With plenty of appropriate play and a little respect for each other's boundaries, Bengals and kids can make a pretty great team. 🐾 What Are Snow Bengal Cats?
Snow Bengals have always been some of my favorites because their coats can change so much as they grow. They have the same beautiful spots and rosettes as brown Bengals, but their backgrounds are much lighter, ranging from almost white and ivory to cream and warm beige. There are three snow colors: seal lynx, seal mink, and seal sepia. Lynx kittens are usually the lightest and have blue eyes, minks tend to have a little more color with aqua or blue-green eyes, and sepias are generally the darkest with green or gold eyes. I especially love watching the really light snow kittens develop. Some are born so pale that you can barely see their markings, and then their pattern starts coming in more and more as they get older.
We specialize in both brown and snow Bengal kittens, so I’ve had the chance to watch a lot of snow babies grow up over the years. Even within the same snow color, their coats can look completely different. Some stay very light with a cool, almost icy background, while others develop warmer cream or tan coloring and much darker rosettes. That’s part of what makes them so much fun for me. You get an idea of what a kitten will look like when they’re little, but their coat continues developing and sometimes surprises you. No matter which snow color you prefer, you still get that gorgeous Bengal pattern and wild little leopard look, just in a much lighter color.
